The Chinese Professionals Club of Australia, Inc. (CPCA) was established and registered in New South Wales in 1995 as a non-political, non-profit organisation. Its objectives are to promote friendship among members and their families; and to provide a relaxing social environment for members to enjoy their lives.
CPCA consists of professionals from various companies, organisations and institutes throughout the Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle and Canberra areas. All CPCA members have a Chinese background or a Chinese family relationship. They all have at least a tertiary qualification and currently work as professionals. Student memberships are also available for Chinese students who are currently studying at universities in Australia.
To achieve balance between social life and career, the members of CPCA are enthusiastic about harmonising the two so as to make life more meaningful and careers more enjoyable. They believe that social interaction will lead to new friendship and more fulfilling life style. The aim of CPCA is to provide opportunities and platforms to achieve this.
CPCA organises regular social activities, such as holiday camping, sporting events, bush walking and dance parties. There are several major social gatherings during the year, such as an annual sports day and family getaways. CPCA also organises professional functions, which include member forums and seminars. These activities and functions provide great opportunities for club members and their families to meet old friends and make new friends while having a great time.
The members of CPCA are proud of their cultural heritage but stay open-minded towards the adoption of new cultural values. They are willing to promote Chinese culture in this multicultural society and to embody the harmonious relationship among communities, through celebrating the Chinese New Year, Easter, Moon Festival and Christmas.
CPCA is run by a committee of around 10 people on a volunteer basis, i.e., all committee members volunteer their time and effort into running the organisation. According to the CPCAconstitution, the members of CPCA committee are elected by all members at the Annual General Meeting.
CPCA Melbourne registered in Victoria in 1993. Through two clubs operate independtly, they share common interests and cultures, and maintain certain connections.
